The latest Version 15 VMWare Workstation Player free for home use only works just fine, provided you only need t run one VM at a time which is my situation. Rename the program, a single character will do.

I was able to start my virtual machines. I checked whether it has networking capabilities and everything seems fine. The virtual network drivers apparently survived the windows update.
